Vicki Allison has an extensive public accounting background and as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) since 1979, has always instilled strong accounting values throughout the company.   Ken Hewer, a Chartered Accountant (S.A.) with both public and private accounting experience, is our Vice-President of Finance and Corporate Operations.  Jamie Hancock, CPA, is our Director of Finance at the helm of all accounting department activities and Barry Manuel heads up our Information Systems Department with a Business Administration degree, having majored in Information Systems.

 

Our accounting department is state of the art.  We can prepare books on a full accrual, cash basis or a combination. We utilize an extensive chart of accounts that aids in our management ability. This extensive chart of account, allows us to customize reports to a specific owners needs. We can also accommodate a full variety of balance sheet accounts, as well as any fiscal year end, or the desire to have month end cut off dates other than the calendar month end.

For sites with a calendar month end, we prepare and submit to the owner, the monthly report on approximately the 15 th day of the following month.

 

Our daily morning report is prepared at the site and/or e-mailed to our office for distribution to all supervisors and principals of Bernard/Allison.  This report can be e-mailed, faxed or available to the owner everyday via our website.

 

The morning report includes the following information.

 

  • Collected income through the date of the report
  • Units rented by type
  • Vacant-ready units by type
  • Vacant-not ready units by type
  • Vacancies with deposits
  • Total vacancies
  • Delinquencies
  • 30-day notices to vacate by apartment type
  • Longest vacancy in days by apartment type
  • Traffic
  • Rental rate changes
  • Total income producing units

 

Bernard/Allison prepares monthly sales tax reports, bank reconciliations and actual vs. budget comparisons.

 

Our Information Systems Department has created our budget preparation program.  This program enables a more accurate approach to the budgeting process.  This program is user friendly and utilizes past operating history as well operating income and expense factors from all Bernard/Allison sites.  These comparisons allow us to easily maintain peak performance on all sites.

 

At year-end, we can provide your accountant with an annual detailed general ledger as well as a working trial balance. We are very experienced in working with auditors. Our accuracy and efficiency can help to keep your audit fees at reasonable amount. We have excellent internal control procedures.
